Grey's Anatomy: Episode 5.3 "Here Comes the Flood" Recap (Part 3/4)
Richard says he has the leaky pipes under control, even though Bailey warns him that it might be "poop water." Ewww! Apparently, though, he doesn't have it controlled because there is not an honest-to-goodness flood. Really not good. Bailey wants to shut down, sending the patients to Mercy West, and just have the pipes fixed. Chief gets testy and yells at her to get thee to the clinic. Meanwhile, Lexie turns down the chance to scrub in with Mark on Headache guy because she wants to help George with this lapdog duty. Mark calls her pathetic again.

Aneurysm Guy doesn't want to have surgery because he thinks he's jinxed and that he'll die in surgery. Alex shares with him that he's on the cusp of being homeless next week to make him feel better. He also meaningfully glances at Izzie across the room, so he must still have feelings for her. Hahn and Alex operate on him, but while his chest cavity is still open, the entire ceiling collapses from the weight of buckets and buckets of possibly poopy water and onto the patient. Really, really not good. Maybe Aneurysm Guy really does live with a dark cloud over his head. Hahn decides to move the patient to the only other available OR, which is where Sloan is doing the surgery. Derek and Cristina are observing that operation, and Cristina tells him not to use her as a pawn in his dealings with Meredith. They continue the surgery and Alex finds a tumor in Aneurysm Guy's pancreas.

When Aneurysm Guy wakes up, Alex says that they had to look at his abdomen more thoroughly because fragments from the ceiling fell inside of him. As a result, they found a malignant tumor in his pancreas. But it was only at stage 1, so he doesn't even have to have chemo. They almost never find pancreatic cancer so early; usually when they find pancreatic tumors, it's already too late. It turns out that the ceiling collapse saved his life, and his luck has turned.

Izzie sees an ad for a beautiful apartment with an "honest-to-God fireplace" that she can't afford, so she asks Alex to be her roommate, but he'd rather live in his "honest-to-God car" than be her roommate. For someone who is supposed to like her, he really doesn't treat her well. So she asks Cristina to be roomies with her, but there's some miscommunication. Cristina thought that she was just pointing out a great apartment, so she puts down a deposit for it for herself and Callie to move into.
