Katherine Heigl, cast member of the popular medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, is aspiring to elevate her status on the show, ultimately seeking for a higher salary that would put her on the same level with the series’ other female stars. Heigl’s move, although the salary dispute is still at a deadlock, has prompted negative rumors about the actress and the conflicts it brought to the cast.

Heigl, a German-Irish American actress, was previously known for her inclusion on the sci-fi series Roswell. She entered the entertainment industry as a child model and eventually worked her way up to television commercials and series. Her acting credits included That Night, King of the Hill, My Father the Hero, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, The Tempest and Bride of Chucky.

The Golden Globe-nominated actress is, at present, part of the series Grey’s Anatomy where she plays the former model turned doctor, Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens. She is considered as a major part of the cast and the show, although not as prominent compared to other female cast members like Ellen Pompeo and Sandra Oh, who both have already established their stance on the entertainment industry prior to the their inclusion on Grey’s Anatomy. Nevertheless, the network surely recognizes Heigl as a promising actress on the rise that has brought much depth and positive enhancement to the show.

"Katherine is an integral part of Grey's Anatomy and its success," ABC said in a statement. "Fortunately, we have a long term contract to ensure she'll be with the show for several years to come…In recognition of her tremendous talent and value to the show, we recently approached Katherine with an offer to raise her compensation significantly above the terms of her current contract. We were surprised to see this gesture reported negatively in the press, and want to reassure fans that she will continue as Izzie Stevens."
