Katherine Heigl Busy with New Production Company, New Movie and New Season of 'Grey's Anatomy'
Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl is trying her luck behind-the-cameras by creating her own production company with her mother/manager, Nancy Heigl.  The name of the company has yet to be revealed.

The company, which was first announced early last month, already has a project lined up, conceived by coproducers Bob Kosberg and David Simon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kosberg and Simon approached Heigl with their film idea during the press junket for the highly-successful summer comedy, Knocked Up, wherein she played the lead female character.

The action-comedy, wherein Heigl will also star, was set up at FOX 2000 and SpyGlass entertainment and is being co-produced by Nash Entertainment.  The venture remains untitled.

FOX 2000 is the same film studio behind Katherine Heigl's upcoming movie, 27 Dresses.  The film is currently in production and will feature the 28-year-old actress playing a single woman who has served as a bridesmaid 27 times.  Her sister enlists her for the job again, which proves painful this time around as she is in love with the groom.  Aside from Heigl, the film also stars James Marsden, Malin Akerman, Judy Greer and Ed Burns.  The movie is scheduled for release on January 11.

In real life though, Heigl will not have to worry about the “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” dilemma, as she is set to marry singer Josh Kelley by the end of this year.

In addition to her new production company and working on her new film, Katherine Heigl is also back on the set of Grey's Anatomy, which is scheduled to return for its fourth season on September 27.  On the medical drama, Heigl plays Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens, who finally revealed her true feelings about George (T.R. Knight) during the third season finale.

In July, Heigl received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.  She is up against her Grey's Anatomy co-stars, Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh, as well as Brothers & Sisters' Rachel Griffiths and The Sopranos' Aida Turturro.
