In case you didn't know, T.R. Knight of Grey's Anatomy recently celebrated his birthday - Happy Birthday T.R.! - and co-star Katherine Heigl (Izzie) surprised her on screen closet beau with a puppy dog.  T.R. was thrilled with the new addition, named Ebony.   To up the cool factor, Ebony was rescued from an animal shelter in Nebraska which Heigl and her family help to support.

The puppy is described as mixed breed and gangly, and is about six months old. No word on whether or not it is potty trained or not.  Signs of an onset romance between Heigl and Knight?  Hardly.  Remember T.R. Knight was rudely outed by an infamous incident involving costar's Isiahah Washington and Patrick Dempsey last October.  I'm thinking one of them needs a puppy too.

As far as the extremely tentative on screen romance between Knight's George O'Malley and Heigl's Izzie,  nick named 'Gizzie' by all the people who come up with such cute word matings, you can expect to see more fall out from their mildly illicit hook-up.

When? According to spoilerfix.com, when Grey's returns on the 19th Heigl's Izzie is going to go running to George for comfort after her past comes back to haunt her.  What does Izzie have in her past that haunts her?  A person perhaps?  The big question is, will George have managed to reassemble his innards enough by then to be of use to anyone? Just how long will Gizzie be an item?  According to Kristin from E!Online, expect the George and Izzie up a tree song to be sung for quite some time.

So let's sum this up: cute puppy, check. Smokin on screen romance with Grey's Anatomy hottie full of emotional strife, check.  Angry costars getting along, check.  Sounds like altogether, T.R. Knight had himself a pretty good birthday.
