The last new episode of Grey’s Anatomy aired two weeks ago and now, we’re left with repeats the seasons we bought on DVD the day they came out at Target.  All the bonus material in the world can’t replace the fact that we don’t know is Derek will end up with Meredith or Rose.  We don’t know if George is going to move in with Lexie or what effect that would have on his friendship/relationship with Izzie.  We don’t know the repercussions of Bailey’s husband blaming her for their son’s injury.  No, all we can do is sit around and speculate, coming up with theories and possible storylines.  Wouldn’t it be great if we could live the life of a Grey’s Anatomy character to play out these stories?  Well, now we can with the Grey’s Anatomy mobile game.  Hold on, though.  If you think this sounds like something fun and worth your money, you would be very, very wrong.

I’m going to assume that the little man in the picture is Derek who appears to be cursing the heavens that he can’t save his patient.  I’m also wondering why he’s sans gloves in the operating room or why there are many people standing around staring at him.  Where’s the anesthesia or the medical equipment needed to perform surgery?  Can I get some attention to detail?

Released by Gameloft, the Grey’s Anatomy mobile game is described as a “social adventure” featuring mini games based on the first 3 seasons of the show.  In the game, you play as Meredith Grey and interact with hospital staff, admit patients, and even operate on them.   You get to take on side projects to help make your day easier such as: acquire sneakers to run faster.  Is someone wearing shoes inappropriate for running?  Players complete a series of tasks in order to increase their rank and status in Seattle Grace.

Grey’s Anatomy: The Mobile Game is a perfect balance of gameplay and content, as the challenging mini-games will resonate with the male audience, while women will be engaged with the game’s unfolding drama and character interaction,” Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing Gameloft, told Forbes magazine. “Ultimately, we plan to create a mobile experience that melds the tension of a dramatic television show with the excitement of a social adventure.”

Despite the hype, the game does not seem to be worth the $5.99 you’d spend downloading it onto your phone.  The graphics are cheesy and the gameplay seems awkward.  Save your money, watch the DVDs, and wait for a better way to pass the time.
