Pompeo, who accused the network of helping to spread the KKK's racist ideology, is just one of the many protesters of the show. On Tuesday, an online petition on Change.org was launched to urge A&E to cancel the docuseries before its January 10 debut.
Based on the press release, Generation KKK follows "four prominent Klan families who each have a family member trying to escape the Ku Klux Klan. This series pulls back the curtain on the organization that the Anti-Defamation League calls 'a racist, anti-Semitic movement with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation and white supremacy,' to show its effects on American families as members grapple with the consequences of leaving."
In response to Pompeo's twitter rant, A&E claims that the show is about "extracting families from the KKK & exposing hate." It also points out that it has the support of the ADL.
The Grey's Anatomy actress tweeted back by saying the network should promote it as such.
What do you think of Pompeo's twitter rant? Will you be watching Generation KKK? Or does it make you want to boycott A&E?
