Thanks to Katherine Heigl talking incessantly about it, we all know now that Izzie will "survive the disease that no one does" to successfully make it to Grey's
season 6, while George (TR Knight) will not be returning except inside a casket in a funeral scene. ABC has confirmed that the sixth will mark the first season when Knight won't be part of the regular cast, while Jessica Capshaw, who plays lezzie peds surgeon Arizona Robbins has been promoted to series regular.Grey's Anatomy
creator Shonda Rhimes had been quoted as saying that the show's sixth season is "important" since it's all about transitions. She moreover thinks Grey's
can have a future beyond its core cast, supposing they "play their cards right." For instance, Ellen Pompeo, who plays central character Meredith Grey, is currently on maternity leave. Said Rhimes, "We have a lovely story that will take us into her maternity leave."
As far as season 6 storylines are concerned, among the most heavily anticipated are those of Izzie and George. But also set to be answered are the following: will Bailey (Chandra Wilson) accept the peds fellowship and be happy about it; will Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) finally see a movie together all lovey-dovey after she confessed her love for him; and will Callie (Sarah Ramirez) and Arizona finally patch things up after all the "awesome" comments that Arizona made regarding George's joining the army.
