It was a jaw-dropping moment on the last episode of Grey's Anatomy when, out of exasperation, Cristina (Sandra Oh) blurted out that Teddy (Kim Raver) can have Owen (Kevin McKidd) as long as she stays and mentor her and continue to be her cardio god. McKidd tells TV Guide that Owen is "not too happy" about the little clandestine trade-off. Well duh.
"He suddenly feels like a baseball card," he says. "There's a lot of fallout to do with that and there's a lot of complication and exploration of their relationship. It's really interesting. It becomes very intense because of that."
Just think about the awkwardness when the three find themselves in the cafeteria or something. But more importantly, think about how Owen will feel. But before you go and crucify both Yang AND Teddy, McKidd assures us that his former army colleague hasn't categorically taken up his girlfriend's offer just yet.
"At the moment, it's still hanging out there," he says. But the way Owen reacts might surprise every decent Grey's Anatomy
fans we know - "When Owen's found out what the deal is, you don't know what he's going to do... He actually goes, 'I'm not going to let you do this, I'm going to be the strong one in this situation. That's a bad decision you just made and I'm really ... hurt about it and I'm not going to let you throw me away, so we're going to work through this.'"
Doesn't your heart just break for Owen? But what could've pushed Cristina into doing this terribly insensitive thing? We know our girl's hardcore when it comes to her medicine, but when push comes to shove, she's also quite a friend and a girlfriend (remember Burke?). In fact, McKidd tells us that Yang regrets the decision - but doesn't regret it at the same time.
"She finds it is something that was obviously in her subconscious that came out, and she has to address whether she meant it."
Do you think Cristina meant it?
