Grey's Anatomy 3.18 Scars and Souviners - Review
Thursday, March 15, 2007
Finally Grey's Anatomy returns! In the episode, several weeks have passed as well. We catch up with Grey's Anatomy's namesake Meredith fully recovered, physically, from her near death experience. Her mother's death still lingers in her mind. Perfect time for her father and stepmother to come by and impose their wills. Meanwhile one of Grey's Anatomy's more prominent threads, the Chief of Surgery race, is reaching critical mass. Grey's Anatomy is back, and the drama has never been higher.
The interactions between Meredith and her father are tense, as you might expect. He keeps confusing her with his other daughter, and nobody can lock in on a conversation. It's a study in awkward family bonding for sure. Finally, a power outage saves the day, changing the scenery and giving Meridith the opportunity to bond with her step mother, and ultimately daddy-o.
Things at the hospital are ramping up. Richard invites a hot shot cardio guy played by Robin Colcord to come buy and observe. Turns out Christina was once involved with this guy, which raises all sorts of issues for her, particularly with Burke. Looks like the fit he throws is going to have some resounding effects on the integrity of their engagement.
Thinks get scary when the gang starts strutting their stuff in the face of this outside. Crush and Derek in particular almost kill a patient hot-dogging. (Oh, the patient... a friend of Derek's.)
Then the moment everybody was waiting for. George finds out that Callie is living of a wonking trust fund and there a spat which leads to George being shown the door. He runs to Merediths to drown his sorrows and winds up sleeping with Izzie! That's right! Gizzie is on!
Not a very graceful episode in the sense of how it dealt with the aftermath of Meredith's experience, but definitely a dramatically charged episode of Grey's Anatomy you'll sure to love!
