Grey's Anatomy: Death To Izzie Stevens!
Tuesday, July 15, 2008

It’s no secret that Katherine Heigl was unhappy with her character Izzie’s storyline on Grey’s Anatomy this past season. When Heigl doesn’t like something, she says it and doesn’t seem to care who she offends. Last month, the Grey’s actress asked not to be considered in the Emmy race for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Many considered it a slap in the face to the show’s writers but fans felt that Heigl should be able to speak her mind. A few weeks back, she was asked by reporters if she’d return to Grey’s next season. "Of course, absolutely,” she responded. “Those people are like my family." However, just because Heigl wants in doesn’t necessarily mean her “family” wants her there anymore.

According to E! Online, there is serious talk on the Grey’s set that Shonda Rhimes is considering getting rid of Izzie Stevens once and for all. "It's not good there," a source close to the show told E!’s Mark Malkin. "Shonda is pissed. They're thinking of killing her off. They want Izzie dead." A rep for Rhimes denied the claim saying, “I haven’t heard anything about it.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: don’t bite the hand that feeds you, Katherine Heigl. I wouldn’t pack it all up for movies like 27 Dresses and Knocked Up. Sure you may get more cash but are you really proud of the work you’re doing? Playing Izzie Stevens will always earn you more critical acclaim than starring in a romantic comedy.  If you're satisfied with being a poor man's Kate Hudson, good for you.

I suppose this begs the question: Is Katherine in it for the cash or the critical acclaim? Her mind may soon be made up for her. She spoke poorly of those who made her who she is one too many times and I’d applaud Shonda if she took a stand and dropped Izzie down Seattle Grace’s elevator shaft.

What should Shonda Rhimes do with Izzie Stevens?
Kill her!
Keep her!
