Brooke Smith as Erica Hahn

Erica Hahn of ABC's Grey's Anatomy is played by Brooke Smith. Dr. Hahn was educated at Johns Hopkins Medical School, where she graduated second after Preston Burke, her long-time rival. She was previously a cardiothoracic attending surgeon at Mercy West Hospital, until she was hired as a cardiologist at Seattle Grace Hospital.

In season 2, Dr. Hahn got into a conflict with Dr. Burke regarding a donor's heart due to the wrong information from Dr. Stevens pertaining to heart patient Denny Duquette's condition. She was later consulted regarding Harold O'Malley's valve replacement.

Despite her frequent conflicts with Dr. Burke, Dr. Hahn highly respects and admires him, but would never tell him this. The two have a love-hate relationship along with their constant competition, but the two manage to stay friends. She also told Dr. Yang that if she learned anything from Dr. Burke, that would only amount to half of his expertise, which would be good enough for her.

Dr. Hahn became part of Seattle Grace Hospital after she performed a heart transplant upon the request of Chief Richard Webber. She became the Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Seattle Grace and was dubbed "The New Burke."

Aside from keeping an interesting and intense relationship with Dr. Burke, she also enjoys antagonizing Dr. Yang, who she bluntly expresses a deep disapproval for. Moreover, she constantly prevents Dr. Yang from participating on any cardiothoracic surgeries, thus increasing Dr. Yang's annoyance towards her.

Dr. Mark Sloan, on the other hand, has also freely expressed multiple times that he likes her, despite her rejecting him multiple times as well. She precisely told him that he isn't really in love with her, but instead is just attracted to her because she does not find him attractive at all. Moreover, she is a strong and confident surgeon, and thus has gained the attention of McSteamy.
