Traveling Pants Hottie Goes 'Greek'

Soaring on its highly successful pilot run, which found it consistently atop the field among viewers aged 18-34 years old, Greek has buffed up its cast anew for its approaching second season.  According to a TV Guide exclusive, 26-year old Michael Rady is Greek's newest recruit, said to play the perfect foil for Casey (Spencer Grammer), and perhaps even Rusty (Jacob Zachar), in the coming new season.

Rady joins Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum, Charisma Carpenter, as the most recent additions to the Greek canvas.   We'd earlier reported that Carpenter, who portrayed Cordelia Chase on both Joss Whedon cult favorites, will be reprising her role from the first season finale to return in the second season opener.

Going back to Michael Rady, it's somewhat curious to note that he first broke into the limelight as the hunky summer love of Alexis Bledel's character in the motion picture adaptation of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.  In the film, Bledel's character Lena meets Rady's Kostas while vacationing in Greece.  And yes, that's the quirky thing right there – Rady's breakthrough role as a Greek and now landing a part in a series called just that.

Quirky or not, there'll be lots of Greek Michael Rady to go around this summer.  He's all set to make trouble for the old Greek gang when the series returns for a second run next month.  The following month, he's back on the big screen as the dreamy Kostas in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, when it hits theaters in August.

Greek has been ABC Family's surprise hit throughout its first season, which came to a close Monday last week.  The finale posted the highest rating among the 18-34 demographic, sustaining the show's standing as ABC Family's highest-rated original series throughout its 12-episode first season, as well as in the network's entire history.
