Gossip Girl: Episode 2.7 "Chuck in Real Life" Recap (Page 3/4)
After looking over Chuck's paperwork, V is willing to entertain his offer.  The manager of the building wants to meet with him, and if he approves of the deal it's a go.  While Chuck concocts his evil scheme and Serena rants to Blair (Leighton Meester) about Lily, Dan and Nate bond during a walk in the park.  N tries to convince Dan that things are fine and that the money is still flowing in, but Dan knows better.  N doesn't tell him about the house, and Lonely Boy decides not to confront him for now.  Instead, he whips up a friendly gesture and invites Nate to dinner.

After Chuck and Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) visit with Horace, owner of the old building, C starts to feel a bit guilty.  He actually likes the guy and is feeling a bit charitable, which makes him doubt his plan.  Unfortunately for V, Blair texts Chuck in the middle of his moral quandary, and her words remind him that he has to accomplish his dastardly mission.

It's time for the big van der Woodsen-Bass housewarming party, and Serena thinks that Bart is the reason Jonathan didn't attend.  Is he scheming to shut out Eric's new boyfriend, or is he telling the truth when he says it was Eric's idea not to invite the guy?  Serena is determined to find out.  Meanwhile, Bart is upset to learn that Chuck plans to buy the old building, which he thinks is a poor investment.  C claims he has people he doesn't want to let down, but Bart doesn't care.  Vanessa overhears the father-son argument and stays to comfort Chuck afterwards.

The less swanky party of the week is happening in the Humphrey loft, where Dan, Nate, Rufus and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) are having a night of dinner and Scattergories.  Nate leaves in a huff the instant he finds out that Dan knows about the problems with his house.  Across town, Eric reveals that he didn't invite Jonathan to the party because he didn't want to come out in front of a bunch of reporters.  That scandal likely would have seemed dull compared to the scene Serena makes in front of the press.  After Lily tries to pass them off as a perfectly happy family, S starts talking openly about her mom's cokehead ex-boyfriends.  Note to Serena: you may want to look up "tact" in the dictionary.
