Gossip Girl: Episode 2.2 "Never Been Marcused" Recap (Page 4/4)
I feel bad for Vanessa.  She's relegated to hanging out in the coffee shop and offering advice for Nate and Rufus, while everyone else gets into kinky scandals involving royalty and married women.  Anyway, Rufus wants to go back on the road with Lincoln Hawk, and V is more than willing to run the business if he decides to take off.

Nate confronts Chuck about the loan.  He's too proud to take money from one of his best friends, which is something I can't relate to at all.  I would take money anywhere I could get it in such a situation.  Pride be damned!  After his tiff with the Basshole, N sees Serena and Dan making out in front of the elevator, proving that hands-off is no way to live.  He then goes to chat with Catherine, who's finally willing to listen to his problems.

Will Rufus go back on tour with Lincoln Hawk?  No, of course not.  He's much too awesome a father to run off yet again.  One quick look at all the photos Dan and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) have taken over the summer convinces him to stay.

Cougar Catherine isn't completely evil.  She's willing to help Nate with his money problems if he'll just continue sexing her up now and then.  Sounds like a good deal to me, especially if you have loose morals.  While they have sex on the library floor during the party, B walks in and sees everything.  "Oh my effing god!" she exclaims as she sees her ex getting a piece of the Duchess.  In the most cheer-worthy moment of the episode, B successfully blackmails Catherine.  She'll keep her mouth shut about the affair if the naughty stepmonster will put the stamp of approval on her relationship with Marcus.  Her plan works like a charm.

While Dan and Jenny share a touching reunion with their father, Blair rubs her victory in Chuck's face.  As B explains to him, "I think she recognized part of herself in me, or rather I recognized someone in her."  Brilliant.  As much as he hates himself for it, Chuck can't help but be impressed with B's evil machinations.

As this week's Gossip Girl comes to a close, Vanessa gets a call from Nate canceling their dinner date.  He's too busy picking up his gigolo cash from Cougar Catherine, and though it's easy money he's certainly not happy about it.  Aw, come on, Nate!  There are tougher ways to earn a few thousand bucks.
