The last few episodes of Gossip Girl
have focused on hot couples like Nate and Jenny and Chuck and Blair, but next week's scandalous hour finally allows the adults to find some romance. Monday's episode introduces Cyrus Rose, played by The Princess Bride
's Wallace Shawn, who immediately becomes smitten with Eleanor Waldorf. In the Gossip Girl
book series, Rose eventually marries Eleanor and becomes Blair's horribly embarrassing stepfather. Could the head honcho of Waldorf designs actually settle down with Mr. "Inconceivable!" himself?
To get fans ready for Monday's episode, we have some pictures and clips from "Bonfire of the Vanity."
The CW's official description of the episode reads: "Blair does not approve of the new man, Cyrus Rose, in her mother's life, so she makes it her mission to break up the lovebirds by any means necessary. Jenny (Taylor Momsen
) moves in with Agnes as the friends move forward with their plans for a fashion line. Serena continues to fall for the new guy in her life, Aaron, but she learns something about him that threatens to end things just as they are getting really good. Dan (Penn Badgley
) decides to win the trust of Bart Bass in order to learn more about the man and possibly write an expose on him for Vanity Fair
, but things get heated after Chuck (Ed Westwick
) finds out the real reason Dan is spending so much time around his family."
I did a double take when I glimpsed the first photo from the episode, which shows Blair (Leighton Meester
) chatting up. . .Cyndi Lauper? Yes, that's the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer herself, though why she's hanging out with B remains a mystery. Maybe they're trading fashion tips.
The next picture is of Cyrus Rose, who in addition to dating Eleanor, is also Aaron's father. Blair and Serena (Blake Lively
) could end up related one day if all goes well, but it looks like things between S and A may be hitting a speed bump.
The first clip from the episode gives us Blair at her absolute best. She rants to S about how terrible Cyrus is for her mother, and of course has no interest in any of Serena's issues. "He's five feet tall, he has a catchphrase, and he's a hugger," Blair whines. "I was expecting Cary Grant and I got Danny DeVito!"
Little J should have thought twice before going into business with Agnes. The second clip shows the duo attending a business meeting, but their constant bickering ruins J's chance to sell her designs. It's not easy being a 15-year-old fashion mogul.
The new episode of Gossip Girl
airs Monday at 8pm on the CW.
