The search is over! The
Gossip Girl spin-off has finally found its young Lily van der Woodsen. According to
The Hollywood Reporter, Brittany Snow is in final negotiations to headline the project that will chronicle the teen years of
Kelly Rutherford's character.
Brittany Snow recently appeared in
Hairspray, a film adaptation of the Broadway musical, playing Amber Von Tussle alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, James Marsden, Nikki Blonsky, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron, John Travolta, and Queen Latifah. She also played the real role in movie
Prom Night.
Perhaps best known for playing Meg Pryor on NBC's 1960s drama,
American Dreams, and neo-Nazi high school student Ariel Alderman on the third season of
Nip/Tuck, Snow exudes a timeless quality, making her suitable for the 1980s-themed
Gossip Girl spin-off series where the 22-year-old actress will be moving in with her onscreen sister, Carol (Krysten Ritter), also known as the black sheep of the family, after falling-out with her parents.
In addition to the highly anticipated
Gossip Girl spin-off, Snow can also be seen in the upcoming crime drama
Black Water Transit, and the horror thriller
Clock Tower.
This marks the latest casting update on the
Gossip Girl spin-off. As previously reported, Krysten Ritter (
Veronica Mars, Breaking Bad, ‘Til Death) landed the part of Lily's troubled older sister, while
Jericho's Shilo Fernandez has been cast to play Owen, a brooding valley punk.
You can find out more about the spin-off in the May 11 episode of
Gossip Girl, which will take the form of a prequel, laying the groundwork for a spin-off that could start as soon as the fall, according to the network. In the meantime, fans can catch
Gossip Girl every Monday at 8pm on The CW.
Can you imagine Brittany Snow playing the younger version of Lily? Or do you have another actress in mind?
