If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That seems to be the philosophy of New Directions on Glee, because after winning Regionals with original songs, they're doing it again for Nationals in the May 24 season 2 finale.

Glee's latest original song is called "Light Up the World," and it debuted on Ryan Seacrest's radio show. The song, if possible, could be the most auto-tuned thing ever to come out of Glee. I've listened to it five times, and I'm still not entirely sure who sings the first verse. I think it's Santana, but I wouldn't bet on it.

If this is the plan for Nationals, I have to assume New Directions will lose. The song has the relatively safe message of doing your best or something like that. It's the kind of song that your guidance counselor might read the lyrics to in a graduation speech.

I actually really liked one of their first original songs, "Loser Like Me," especially after seeing it in the episode, so maybe this one will grow on me too. Still, it's certainly not as good as Mercedes' "Hell to the No." Now that was Nationals-worthy.

The Glee season 2 finale airs Tuesday, May 24 at 9pm (yes, it's being pushed back an hour so the final American Idol performance show can air at 8pm).
