While it comes as no surprise, it's still cause to celebrate: Glee
has been granted an early pick-up for a second season. You probably already know this, because you heard the excited squeals of Glee
fans across America (including from the BuddyTV office) when FOX officially announced the news this morning.
But there's more to this announcement than just the guaranteed goodness of a second season of Glee
. You, yes you, could also be part of Glee
's second season. The show will be hosting open casting calls to professional and amateur actors and singers between the ages of 16-26 and the search will be chronicled in a multi-part special on Fox. While audition details haven't been made public yet, keep your eyes peeled on http://www.fox.com/glee/
if you're interested in auditioning.
In a statement about the casting special, Glee
's creator and Executive Producer Ryan Murphy said,"Glee
has always been about finding new fresh exciting voices. Our second season search for young talent will be in the vein of our first season. We launched a nationwide search for talent for our first season with great unexpected results, and season two expands that search in an even bigger way." Murphy has high hopes for the season two audition process saying: "Anybody and everybody now has a chance to be on a show about talented underdogs. ...All the roles will be chosen from the video audition process, which is exciting and unprecedented. We want to be the first interactive musical comedy on television, and the search is on."
And let's not get too far ahead of ourselves! Before season two we still have nine new episodes of season one awaiting us come April, where we'll be able to check in with the lovable misfits of McKinley High and sing along with new favorite songs.
