The news today is fabulous for Gleeks around the world, as FOX did what we all hoped the network would do and picked up
Glee for a full season. This means
Glee
will now get a full 22 episodes for its first season as it becomes the
first new show of the season to become a bona fide success.
Obviously FOX is paying close attention to the fact that no show on TV has a more obsessive cult of fans and that
Glee has a ton of support, even if it's not exactly the next
CSI in terms of traditional ratings.
What makes
Glee's pick-up even better is that, now that it's so early, it will hopefully encourage more fans to jump on the bandwagon. There's no fear that viewers are wasting their time with a show the network will cancel, so now
Glee is in a prime position to take off. It's also a fairly good sign that FOX might even keep
Glee around for more seasons.
But the best news is that
Glee will be around in the spring, which means there will be plenty of chances for cross-promotion with
American Idol. Maybe the kids from
Glee can stop by for a performance on a results show, and maybe Simon Cowell can stop by to give some mean criticism to the lame kids from Vocal Adrenaline.
Glee is here and it's here to stay, so get ready for a full season of musical greatness.
Glee airs Wednesdays at 9pm on FOX.
