Aside from the interactive video project, The Scariest Story Ever Told, Ghost Whisperer will also be launching an online séance through its executive producer, James Van Praagh, on Wednesday, October 31 at 3pm ET on CBS.com.

This Halloween, fans of the supernatural series may call in and personally speak with Van Praagh. During this one-hour streaming video event, chatters may converse in a special chat room and watch live streaming videos while Van Praagh attempts to connect with the dead and share readings.

Van Praagh is known as a medium and a best-selling author who has written several books dealing with spirituality and spirit communication.  He has hosted a syndicated daytime talk show called Beyond with James Van Praagh and has partnered with CBS to produce several TV movies based on his books, including Living with the Dead and The Dead Will Tell.  He has over two decades of paranormal experiences that have been recorded in his books, Talking to Heaven: A Medium's Message of Life After Death, and Reaching to Heaven: A Spiritual Journey Through Life & Death.

At present, Van Praagh serves as a co-executive producer of Ghost Whisperer, a drama fantasy-thriller that centers on fictional medium Melinda Gordon as she communicates and helps earthbound spirits so they can resolve their unfinished business and crossover into the “light.”  It stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Melinda Gordon, David Conrad as Melinda's husband Jim, Camryn Manheim as Melinda's friend Delia Banks, and Jay Mohr as the spirit world expert Professor Rick Payne.

CBS emphasizes that the chat event is for entertainment purposes only and is not to be considered as form of professional grief counseling.  Those who are interested may call Van Praagh at 323-CBS-1000 but must keep in mind that call-ins will be chosen randomly.

Meanwhile, fans can also catch Van Praagh as he guest stars on Larry King Live on October 31 at 9:00pm ET on CNN.
