Halloween is a very significant time of year for Ghost Whisperer as it gives the writers the opportunity to tap into some infamous folklores and ghost stories. This season, the show is giving a modern twist to the legend of Sleepy Hallow. The myth says that the headless horseman was one of the Hessians killed in a battle for Chatterton Hill during the American Revolutionary War, wherein his head was severed by a cannonball. And though he was buried in a graveyard outside a church, he appears as a ghost to night travelers and decapitates its victims.
We're not sure if this is the same headless horseman that terrorizes the town of Grandview as it prepares for Halloween tonight on
Ghost Whisperer but one thing's for sure: He's after Melinda!
To make matters worse, the haunted figure seems to be mysteriously linked to Aiden's (Connor Gibbs) teacher who is mourning the recent loss of her father. Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) attempts to solve this big mystery but also has her hands full when the legendary Book of Changes shows up at Aiden's school.
Is Aiden at risk? We'll find out as Aiden begins to see things that are either imaginary friends or supernatural beings from a dimension we've never known existed. Unfortunately, Melinda can't see the same things.
"Head Over Heals," the sixth episode of
Ghost Whisperer's fifth season, also features
Sarah Jane Morris (
Brothers and Sisters, Seven Pounds) as Caroline, Amy Davidson (
8 Simple Rules, Criminal Minds) as Dana and Riley Smith (
24, Criminal Minds) as Sean.
