The team-up of Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Jim (David Conrad) of CBS series Ghost Whisperer had survived, among others, the latter's death, and even for that reason alone, it notched the 7th spot in the Romance Hall of Fame's Sci-Fi TV Couples Category.
"Love is a force that binds souls together, both is this life and the next. In the town of Grandview, Melinda Gordon helps the lost spirits who linger on for the sake of the living to tie up the loose ends of their pasts and guide them as they take their leap of faith into the light.
"In season four of the series Melinda suffered her own loss with the sudden death of her husband, Jim Clancy. However, the couple learn that death holds no dominion over true love, and Jim - in the footsteps of another body - finds his way back to the woman he loves."
The couple that has eluded death's grimy hands got married and moved in at the start of the first season. Being a firefighter, the two met when he rescued her from her when her apartnemnt building caught on fire. Jim also knows Melinda's unique ability even from the start of the series, and he has helped her as much as he could. They were together for four years before finally getting married. He died of embolism after being shot in the right shoulder. Refusing to go into the light, he soon took over the body of Sam Lucas and began dating Melinda, with absolutely no memory of what happened between the two of them save for a the occasional flashes.
The other couples on the list include
Roswell's Michael and Maria,
Pushing Daisies' Ned and Chuck, and
Moonlight's Mick St. John and Beth Turner.
