After a promising season debut last week, Ghost Whisperer follows up the story with the episode titled “Big Chills.”  The series bested the ratings for the network, hauling in 9.3 million viewers during its season premiere.  This time, relationships are revisited and secrets are revealed, as Melinda Gordon handles her haunting high school past.

On “Big Chills,” Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) hears from her former classmates who invite her to meet up with them.  They reunite after one of the group dies unexpectedly, leaving Melinda to speculate.  The mystery heightens when her friend, Grace Adams, discloses her belief that she's being haunted by another friend's ghost.  It's soon discovered that she was the one who found the body of their late comrade, Lucas.

More and more of Melinda's friends are getting involved, when she realizes that the accident she faces now isn't what she first thought.  It dates back to ten years ago, something that Melinda believed never to have happened.  Through all this, Melinda learns that important information isn't easy to keep secret.

Last time on Ghost Whisperer, Melinda and Jim (David Conrad) encountered Eli (Jamie Kennedy), in the Rockland University fire.  Saving the psychologist's life, Melinda immediately forms a bond with Eli, mainly because they share the same abilities.  On “Big Chills,” Eli will be seen again, as he accompanies Melinda once more on her new endeavor.

The episode “Big Chills” was directed by Peter Werner, and features a number of guest stars portraying Melinda's friends.  Daphne Ashbrook plays Sandy, Christian Campbell is Lucas, and Rachel Leigh Cook will be portraying Grace Adams.  Other guests are Karen Lew, Anna Silk, Jason London and Sarah Buehler.  Regular cast members like Camryn Manheim and Christoph Sanders also return for the episode.

Ghost Whisperer airs on CBS tonight, at 8pm.  Next week, we will be treated to “Ghost in the Machine,” where Melinda deals with a virtual disturbance.
