Annie Wersching was born and raised in St. Lious, Missouri, where she spent fourteen years with the St. Louis Celtic Stepdancers. For most of her youth, they toured and traveled to compete in Irish dance. She later entered Millikin University where she received a degree in musical theater. Upon graduating, she relocated to Chicago where she started touring with Anything Goes and A Christmas Carol. She then appeared in numerous stage productions and shifted to television thereafter. Wersching's first appearance on TV was on Star Trek: Enterprise where she played Liana. Her other television credits include Birds of Prey,

Boston Legal . In 2007, she was cast as Amelia Joffe for the soap opera, General Hospital.
Amelia Joffe is played by Annie Wersching in the soap opera, General Hospital. Amelia is the host for the New York news program which featured Sam McCall after the Metro Court hostage crisis. She is also the daughter of Sam's former husband, Bill Monroe. She ordered someone to investigate Sam's identity, and found that she had four aliases. Amelia later gets involved with mobster Sonny Corinthos.
