Two weeks ago, BuddyTV reported that Vincent Pastore, best known for his role as Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero on the HBO mob series The Sopranos, has signed on to join the cast of General Hospital to stir up some mafia-related plot in Port Charles. At the time, it was hinted that he'll be playing the character named Maximus Giambetti, a big-time mob boss who is frustrated to learn that his firstborn son, Max, is not following in his footsteps.

Recently, however, Soap Opera Digest was able to interview General Hospital head writer Robert Guza Jr., who has revealed more details regarding what's in store for Pastore on the long running soap.

“Vincent Pastore — late in every sense of the word from The Sopranos — is going to play Maximus Giambetti, legendary mob kingpin, now retired and living in Sicily,” Guza Jr. told Soap Opera Digest. “He's the father of Max Jr. — only Max Jr. got named some wussy name like Maxfield or something like that, and he hates it.  It starts with Max going to Milo and saying, ‘We are in trouble.' Milo says, ‘What is it, a mob thing?  Someone gunning for us?' Max says, ‘No, Dad is coming to town.'

An arrival of a family member isn't always a bad thing.  Maximus' case, however, is different. Apparently, the younger Max is presently a bodyguard for a mob boss instead of actually being a mob boss.

“Max says, ‘I told Dad I am the boss; I run the organization in Port Charles.' Milo goes, ‘You are right. We are in big trouble,' Guza Jr. explained.

Will the Port Charles' organized crime actually pretend that Max is in charge for his father's sake? Fans will have to stay tuned when Pastore debut on General Hospital on October 8.  Meanwhile, Guza Jr. remains optimistic that General Hospital fans will be seeing more of the Sopranos actor in the future.

“This run will be six episodes.  I would very much like to seduce Mr. Pastore to come back at will — frequently.  I think the chances are very good that there will be more down the line,” he said.
