After creating the spin-off Port Charles, which lasted from 1997 to 2003, the producers of General Hospital have decided to create yet another spin-off called General Hospital: Night Shift. With an initial 13-episode order, the spin-off is set to debut this coming July on SOAPnet.

While General Hospital features a relatively mature crowd, General Hospital: Night Shift will be comprised of younger characters with ties to core families. It will also further explore the friendships and romantic relationships of its characters, as well as the medical cases encountered at the hospital.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

In case you haven’t heard, the cast of the spin-off has already been revealed. Needless to say, some actors on General Hospital has also been cast on Night Shift, including Bradford Anderson as Damian Spinelli, Julie Marie Berman as Lulu Spencer, Steve Burton as Jason Morgan, Josh Duhon as Logan Hayes, Jason Gerhardt as Cooper Barrett, Rebecca Herbst as Elizabeth Spencer, Kent King as Dr. Lainey Winters, Lindze Letherman as Georgie Jones, Natalia Livingston as Emily Quartermaine, Kimberly McCullough as Dr. Robin Scorpio, Kirsten Storms as Maxie Jones, and Jason Thompson as Dr. Patrick Drake.

Despite the crossing-over of characters, Night Shift’s storylines will not be intersecting with General Hospital’s plot. Consequently, viewers can find that characters on both soap operas could be in entirely different situations on each show.

Thompson and McCullough have previously revealed their excitement in the spin-off. “We’re going to be in every single episode… so it should really be fun,” Thompson has told the crowd during a public appearance in April.

Apart from the familiar characters, some new faces will also grace the drama, including Adrian Alvarado as Cruz Rodriguez, Amanda Baker as Jolene Crowell, Wendy Braun as Iris Sneed, and Kiko Ellsworth as Stan Johnson just to name a few.

Catch Night Shift on Thursday, July 12 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on SOAPnet.
