general hospitalScott Clifton will soon return to the daytime TV after going on hiatus for nearly a year.  This time, however, he won't be reprising his character Dillon Quartermaine on General Hospital.  According to Soapnet, the 24-year-old actor will be joining the cast of One Life to Live next year.

From 2003 to 2007, Clifton played Dillon Quartermaine on General Hospital where he has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Younger Actor” in 2004, 2005 and 2006.  His character was the son of Tracy Quartermaine, portrayed by legendary actress Jane Elliot, and became part of one of the General Hospital teen romances, having been paired with Lindze Letherman, who played Georgie Jones.  When Clifton's contract expired in July 2007, he opted not to renew.

Following Clifton's departure on the soap, he briefly returned to General Hospital along with Wally Kurth, who plays Ned Ashton, for the funeral of Emily Quartermaine, portrayed by Natalia Livingston.  He also returned that following December for the funeral of Georgie Jones, played by Lindze Letherman.  Devastated by Georgie's death, Dillon flew back to California right after the funeral was over.

Aside from General Hospital, Clifton is also credited for his roles on Roswell, Undressed, Terminal Error, Judging Amy, Arizona Summer, The Death Strip, and most recently as Fritz Snyder on Life in General.

On One Life to Live, Clifton will be playing the role of a Llanview high faculty member named Schuyler, a role which was previously announced with One Tree Hill alum Brett Claywell.  However, One Life to Live decided to recast the role of Schuyler and so Clifton was hired.  One the other hand, Claywell is still expected to remain on the show as a member of Llanview PD.

Scott Clifton's first airdate on One Life to Live is set on January 9.
