Gene Simmons was at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas, where he performed live with his very own 13-piece big band, Royal Crown Revue. The 58-year-old star filmed the entire event for his reality series,
Gene Simmons Family Jewels, which airs on the cable network, A&E.
The Royal Crown Revue is the mystery band that Simmons has been busy working with. He and the band had been rehearsing in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles prior to the event, which took place at Beacher's Madhouse at the Hard Rock Casino's The Joint.
On his website, Gene Simmons expressed his thoughts on working with the band, saying that the experience “is coming full circle” for him.
“Before the Beatles, I was hooked on American Rhythm and Blues -- the early guys, James Brown, Joe Tex, Jackie Wilson,” he said. “This was a chance for me to let loose, get in front of a rockin' band, and pimp out. And pimp, I did.”
The Las Vegas show at the Hard Rock Casino is the last West Coast performance for Royal Crown Revue. Over at the East Coast, the band will be playing at the Schuller's Jazz Club in Boston on December 12. The following day, they will be at New York City to perform at The Blender Theater at Gramercy.
At present, the Royal Crown Revue is recording their version of "Blue Christmas," a holiday song made into a rock-and-roll classic by music legend Elvis Presley. The highly-anticipated single will be released to national radio early next month.
Aside from his new band, Gene Simmons is busy working on several projects, and spent the past weekend taking business trips. He is also still filming for the new season of
Family Jewels, eagerly visiting different locations, one of which is Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, fans of
Family Jewels can satisfy their cravings for the show by availing of the complete second season DVD, which is due out in stores on Tuesday, November 20.
