At present,
Gene Simmons stars on A&E's
Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Soon however, the 58-year-old rocker might be branching out on yet another reality series. Word on the street is that a Kiss-themed competition series is already in the works, which is reportedly an attempt to replace the legendary group's band members.
Simmons, who co-founded Kiss in the early 1970s, is known as “The Demon,” the blood-spitting and tongue-wagging persona in the hard rock band. In an interview with Norway's NRK channel, Simmons hinted on controversial issue.
When asked if there's a possibility of a Kiss idol in the future, the
Family Jewels star replies, “Yes…the deal has just been signed.”
On the contrary, the interview footage cuts to Kiss band member Paul Stanley, who completely denies the rumors.
"There is no signed deal it's you know again it's when we're both asked the same question sometimes you get different answers," Stanley said.
Stanley further dispels the issue by releasing another statement, adding that the band isn't planning on stopping anytime soon.
"A Kiss clone reality show? First of all, contrary to what was said by anyone, there is no signed deal. Secondly, if we were to do a Kiss II, and I don't rule that out, it would be in addition to, and never in place of Kiss. If we were to do it, I know it would be done in a groundbreaking way and would be tremendously entertaining," Stanley explained.
"Kiss has always defined itself by the rules we break, so what's the big surprise? We are in the middle of our biggest and most successful tour of Europe ever, playing to over a half million people, and neither Kiss or I have any plans to stop afterwards," Stanley added.
Meanwhile, fans can catch Gene Simmons and the rest of his family on
Gene Simmons Family Jewels every Sunday at 9/8c on A&E.
