Will Cleganebowl happen on Season 8 of Game of Thrones
? Fans have been theorizing about the two Clegane brothers facing off for a few seasons already. Each time it feels like it's going to happen, it just doesn't. And it felt like the Season 7 finale was our final hope. But hope is alive once more now that the actors have revealed they're training.
Sandor Clegane, or the Hound, and his brother Gregor, the Mountain, hate each other. The Mountain was the one who pushed the Hound's face into the fire, after all.
With so much animosity between the two incredible fighters, fans have been chomping at the bit to see the Clegane brothers face off. It feels inevitable. Every time there's a tiny bit of news about one of them, fans automatically think Cleganebowl is happening. But it still hasn't happened. Fans thought they would face off in Cersei's trial-by-combat, but then Tommen banned the trial-by-combat. When a Game of Thrones trailer showed the Hound drawing his sword in the Dragonpit, fans thought that he would face off against his brother in the Season 7 finale, but that didn't happen either.
But something else did happen in the Dragonpit. The Hound went right up to his zombified brother and said, "What did they do to you? Doesn't matter. That's not how it ends for you brother. You know who's coming for you. You've always known." Could the Hound be coming for him in the end?
This past season of Game of Thrones had a lot of moments just for fans. They willed Gendry off that boat and back into existence. They got to see Hot Pie again. They got to see Rhaegar and Lyanna's wedding. Now it looks like they're getting Cleganebowl, which they've waited so long for.
The Hound's Rory McCann and the Mountain's Hafbor Julius Bjornsson even seemed to confirm that Cleganebowl is happening next season. In separate interviews, the two slammed each other and boasted about winning the highly-anticipated fight.
It all started when Bjornsson told Entertainment Weekly
it looked like Cleganebowl was going to happen. When asked if the Mountain would win he said, "100 percent." He would kill the Hound quickly somehow.
Well, McCann was having none of that. "If it happens, fantastic. Listen, I've started training already," he told The Huffington Post
. "There's absolutely no chance he'll win. It's 100 percent that I will win. The Hound will win."
