"The Wolf and the Dragon" season 7 finale tried to provide a big reveal about Jon Snow but it did pale in comparison to the Game of Thrones season 6 finale's version. Viewers have known for awhile that Jon was not the biological son of Ned Stark. It was also implied, in a previous season 7 episode, that Jon was a legitimate heir to the throne. The confirmation of both facts in the finale wasn't exactly a shocker. Game of Thrones did aim for ultimate impact by contrasting the reveal with the sight of Jon and Daenerys finally consummating their sexual tension, bringing to the life the incest that everyone suspected was coming.

Incest Romance 2.0

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the stars behind the (newest) weird love story on Game of Thrones discussed the reveal. Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington have, slightly, different views on how Jon's parentage will effect the romance between their two characters. Emilia Clarke, however, is not personally down with all the incest.

When asked how she thinks Dany will react to finding out Jon is her nephew Clarke, jokingly, responded, "Ewwwww! I think that's how it's going to go. I get the toothbrush-" and she pantomimed furiously brushing her teeth.

On a more serious note, Clarke does think that Dany will be far from happy from the news, mostly as it relates to her claim on the throne. "I've worked so hard, I don't want to share that throne," she explained. "No. The throne's big enough for one dragon bum, and that's mine. That's it!"

Kit Harrington, somewhat true to his character, had a much more muted response. When asked how Jon and Dany will react he said, "That part of it, I can't predict. It could be them walking off into the sunset. It could be them killing each other."

The Dawn of a New Era

The final season of Game of Thrones is far away. It could arrive as late as 2019. The sense from the interview though is that the fact that Jon is the true Targaryen heir will break up his romance with Dany, or at the very least take them from allies to rivals. This is what the stars want viewers to believe, at least. While the reveal of Jon's true name and parentage might be an obstacle in their path, it realistically won't be the end of them.

Jon, as the season finale showed, is far too noble and loyal to go back on his word. He pledged his loyalty to Dany as the queen and there's nothing that will keep him from going back on it. Even if Jon is the real heir, he's not going to pursue to break his vow to Dany. This might not be the only reason the two stick together.

In the lead-up to the finale, and the season 7 finale itself, there was a lot of talk about Dany's line of succession and her inability to have children. In fact, the last scene between Jon and Daenerys before their "moment" was Jon personally doubting Daenerys' barrenness. While all of this talk could be foreshadowing Daenerys' death, it could also be hinting to Jon will be the one to allow her to father children.

How and why that could happen Game of Thrones will likely leave ambiguous. The point is that the latter episodes of season 7 couldn't have made it more obvious that Jon might impregnate his queen. The only thing that was missing was a medieval pregnancy test next to the bed. If true, regardless of their personal feelings, the two, but especially Jon, will likely be honor-bound to wed. Neither character would want a royal bastard, especially one with the blood of two dragon parents. Rather than force them apart, the reveal about Jon might bring the two even closer together.

But what do you think? How will Jon's parentage impact Dany? Do you think it's possible that Jon and Dany are already expecting a baby?
