The end is near.
The beginning of the end is near anyway. Fringe season 5 -- the final season for the series -- will begin soon. What can we expect and when can we expect it? We have spoilers, answers and even some photos here.
WARNING: Fringe season 5 spoilers ahead. Remember, knowledge can be a dangerous thing. What's Going on in This Photo?
Fringe is available on Amazon Prime.
While we don't have much on the Fringe
season 5 premiere, there is one photo. Originally posted by TVLine
, the image comes from "Transilience Thought Unifier Model 11," the first episode of the upcoming season. We clearly see Peter, Astrid and Etta (Georgina Haig is back! Yay!!!) standing in front of some empty amber.
Check out the photo below:
What do we know and what can we guess from this Fringe
- The setting is 2036, after Etta and Simon (Henry Ian Cusick) freed Walter, Peter and Astrid from the amber.
- While Walter is not pictured, he is probably around somewhere.
- From the clean cuts taken out of this amber, we can guess that this is not the location where Etta and Simon found the Fringe team.
- There is, of course, a notable absence from the photo: Olivia. Was she in this amber that has been removed? If so, where is she?
- And if Olivia was not there, what was this amber for?
Alas, there are no answers yet. But if you have guesses, share them in the comments section below!More Photos?
The setting for these photos is not confirmed -- Fringe
executive producer J.H. Wyman posted them to his Twitter page without much comment. But they are definitely
from the set at least.
First we have a picture of Etta
The second picture shows Olivia and Peter, standing together and looking fairly serious.
Since this photo was apparently taken by the Fringe director of photography, David Geddes
, it's impossible to say whether this is from a scene or just a shot of the two actors standing around.Death?
Shocking, I know. Someone is going to die on Fringe
... This time, however, death is confirmed. "There will be death in the final season," J.H. Wyman told TVGuide.com
. "Whenever there's a war, there are going to be casualties. I think they're going to be unexpected."
Who is going to die then? Obviously there is no way to be sure. What Is the Schedule for All of This?
We know that Fringe
season 5 will begin on Friday, September 28, but what about the rest of the 13-episode run? Although all dates are subject to change at this point, J.H. Wyman did share some expectations.TVLine
reports that J.H. Wyman will direct the finale, possibly set to air on Friday, February 1, 2013. FOX has not confirmed this. Whenever it airs, the Fringe
series finale will be the third of three episodes that fit together to show us the end.
As for the rest of the season, we can expect most of the episodes to air weekly. The most likely scenario has us getting four episodes at the beginning of the season, two more episodes after a short break and then the final 7 episodes weekly until the end.

season 5 premieres on Friday, September 28 at 9pm on FOX.(Images courtesy of FOX)
