The Observers are bad. We know that much going into Fringe season 5. But how do they subdue the human population and what do they want? That's the big question. This promo video for the upcoming Fringe season might just have a few answers.
WARNING: This video contains a few Fringe season 5 spoilers. None of them make much sense, of course, seeing as this is Fringe -- a show that never makes sense until you watch it in its entirety. Still, you might be spoiled. So watch out.We have seen some of this footage in earlier
Fringe season 5 videos: the idyllic field and the sinister line of Observers is definitely familiar. But much of this video is brand-new. Check it out below:
It's only a 30-second video, but
Fringe managed to pack a lot into that short time. What are the highlights?
- Peter and Olivia do indeed seem happy hanging out on their picnic blanket. Too bad this means, in the Fringe universe, that bad things are a-coming!
- In case you couldn't read the big Observer poster, it says "The Future in Order."
- That fancy, castle-like building surrounded by Observers is definitely a place in Vancouver (where they film Fringe). It is also used as the exterior of the Queen mansion in the upcoming pilot episode of Arrow.
- Peter is one of the people looking down a hole from that square-shaped opening. The other person is unidentifiable in the video.
- Lab equipment with multi-colored, bubbling liquids. That is always important in the Fringe universe.
- "You are fighting much more than I would have thought possible." Observers are jerks. End of story.
- What has caused Walter's blood and injuries in this scene? Is it crazy Observer voodoo at work, or do the Observers resort to standard punching and the like when trying to extract information from prisoners?
- Do we think this is pre-amber or post-amber Walter? The Observer is the guy we saw interact with Old Broyles, but time isn't terribly meaningful when we're talking about the baldies.
We can only hope that
Fringe explains more of this when the show returns for season 5 on Friday, September 28 at 9pm on FOX.
