'Fringe' Season 4 Videos: The End of the World (Again)?

Only two episodes remain of Fringe season 4. With David Robert Jones out to destroy the universe (or universes, as the case may be), access to the Other Side cut off and a whole bunch of suddenly nefarious Observers, the stakes have never been higher.

How will the world almost end this time? And how will the Fringe team stop it? These four Fringe videos may give a bit of a clue.

Fringe is available on Amazon Prime.

The first Fringe video is a standard promo for the first of the final two season 4 episodes, "Brave New World, Part 1."

What is going on? No clue, but this is what we see:

  • Peter declares that he won't lose Olivia again.
  • A man falls to his knees, looking frozen or something.
  • David Robert Jones looks sinister.
  • Some piece of scientific equipment goes haywire.
  • Walter looks worried and then gunfire erupts in a warehouse.
  • Labs, docks and character close-ups add to the tension.
  • Walter declares William Bell to be alive (?!?).
  • Nina insists that Bell (probably) would not destroy a universe.
  • Something lightning-like takes out a tall building.
It all looks very apocalyptic.

The apocalypse has not abated in the second video, a rather cute movie-trailer format advertising the final two episodes.

What's different?

  • What does "Those few that he has chosen" mean exactly?
  • Lots of the footage used in this trailer does come from earlier Fringe episodes.
  • What is going on with Olivia? What can she do now?
  • When they say "Only one will survive," do they mean people or universes?
  • According to Broyles, David Robert Jones had a universe-replacement backup plan.
  • You've got to love the "content removed" message at the end. Apparently we'll only learn more about part 2 of the Fringe season 4 finale next week.

Until then, we can look back at the awesome "Letters of Transit" episode with a John Noble interview.

How many Walters are we up to now? Five?

FOX Renews Fringe for Season 5

The final video is a look back at the past seasons of Fringe in anticipation of next year's season 5.

That footage at the end does seem to be new. But is it from upcoming episodes, or are we looking at promo-only footage? As with so much of Fringe, answers are slow to come.

"Brave New World, Part 1" airs on Friday, May 4 at 9pm on FOX.
