How do two universes co-exist? Where will the Fringe team go next? And what the heck happened to Peter? Even at the 2011 Comic-Con in San Diego, only a few answers were likely to come.
The panel session began with a clip reel, featuring moments from all three seasons. Not featured at all? One Peter Bishop. Nope, he's not even in the clip reels anymore.
He didn't show up on the stage when the panelists were introduced either. Instead, we got:
- Jeff Pinkner (executive producer)
- J.H. Wyman (executive producer)
- John Noble (Walter)
- Anna Torv (Olivia)
- Lance Reddick (Broyles)
- Jasika Nicole (Astrid)
- Blair Brown (Nina Sharpe)
- Seth Gabel (Lincoln Lee)
They all seemed pretty happy to be at Comic-Con. As Jeff Pinkner put it: "This is our Emmys."
It wasn't like the panelists got much of a chance to talk. Instead they then showed a clip showing "auditions" for new actors to play Peter. The actors featured included:
- Danny Pudi (wearing an impressive grey mustache)
- Damon Lindelof
- Geoff Stults
- Rebecca Mader
- Greg Grunberg
- Zachary Quinto
- Jorge Garcia
Also, there were several more either hard-to-recognize or already-forgotten-by-me actors. The rather amusing clip reel ended with...
Joshua Jackson all dressed up like an Observer.
And then? Joshua Jackson showed up (still in the suit and fedora) on the stage.
By way of greeting, the suddenly reappeared man announced: "Thank you everyone for coming to Pacey-Con 2011."
A question was posed about where Peter's consciousness was. The answer, according to Jeff Pinkner, was: "It's not that Peter's consciousness is elsewhere. There is no Peter."
How does Fauxlivia have a baby? Anna Torv responded: "The question is, is there a child?"
The producers brought up an intriguing point about Olivia: "I'm not sure we've seen all of her powers yet." To which Anna Torv replied, "Really?"
When John Noble talked about how he liked Walternate, Joshua Jackson interjected,"You shot my wife in the head!" Noble was cool with that: "That was in 2026. People can change."
Joshua Jackson wasn't too unhappy about not having an alternate: "It did give me a lot more free time than the others had, so that didn't suck."
When asked if they had any ideas for a big episode in season 4, J.H. Wyman replied, "A
nude episode!"
By the way, there was an Observer sitting in the audience right behind the audience-question microphone.
