As Janice Hosenstein Litman Goralnik on
Friends, Maggie Wheeler was distinctly known for her nasal voice, obnoxious laugh and her trademark cry of “Oh…my…God.” She quickly became the laughingstock of the group and the bane of Chandler Bing (
Matthew Perry), which made her on-again, off-again relationship with him a comic relief throughout the series. What started out as a guest spot on a single episode turned into a 10-season recurring role that has made its way into TV history.
At present, the 46-year-old former
Friends actress remains active in show business with her continuous television, film and voice-over work. Currently living in Los Angeles with her two children and artist husband Daniel Wheeler, she continues to participate in artistic galas, charity events and musical benefits.
On the big screen, she has been cast in the comedy film that explores intergenerational conflicts in an Indian-American family called
Waking Dreams. The movie also stars Maurizio Farhad and Jamie Elman.
Maggie Wheeler's 10-year stint on
Friends defined her as an actress and led to an extensive list of credentials during and after the award-winning series. While playing Janice, she was also filming episodes of
Everybody Loves Raymond as Linda Gruenfelder opposite Tom McGowen.
Making the most out of her talent, she provided the voice of Dr. Renton in
Kim Possible and Fluffy Hen in
Dr. Doolittle 3. She also guest starred on many television series like
Drake & Josh, Friday Night Lights and landed a recurring role on
The War at Home as Mindy.
