Courteney Bass Cox was born on June 15, 1964 on Birmingham, Alabama and came from an affluent Southern family which composed of Richard L. Cox, her father who was a businessman, her mother, also named Courteney, and nine half-siblings. After her parents divorced, she moved with her mother and stepfather to New York. Her first appearance was on a music video for Bruce Springsteen. Her early films included
Masters of the Universe and
Cocoon: The Return. Her television series appearances include
Misfits of Science,
Family Ties and
Seinfeld. She also appeared in movies like
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,
Scream,
Scream 2. She found fame when she was cast as Monica Geller for the hit television series
Friends. She had relationships with Ian Copeland, Michael Keaton and Adam Duritz before she settled down and married David Arquette whom she met at the set of
Scream. They got married in 1999.
Monica Geller is played by Courteney Cox in the hit television show
Friends. Monica, the younger sister of Ross, shares an apartment with Phoebe Buffay. She took on the role of "mother hen", being the one who always looks after her friends. Her love interest is Chandler, with whom she had a secret relationship with. Monica is a neat freak and is obsessive about the state of her apartment. She is also competitive and quite bossy.
