Mr. McCoy tries to “apologize” for the smoothies by giving Coach Taylor scotch and some Cuban cigars. This turns into endless flattery, because he claims the only reason the Panthers won State with an “average” quarterback like Matt Saracen was because of Eric’s brilliant coaching. Mr. McCoy goes on to say that with a great natural talent like his son J.D., a great coach could do even better. He also admits the only reason they moved to Dallas was to be coached by Eric Taylor, which furthers my belief that I will never understand Texas’ obsession with football.

Tami has her own hardships, because one of her teachers is leaving for a private school. The Taylors spend the night commiserating, and just when Eric thinks he’s in for some sex, Tami sees Julie’s changed schedule and flips out. She’s obsessed with Julie taking AP English with a specific teacher, and Tami plays dictator, overruling everyone as principal.

At a Mexican bar, Tyra is depressed because she realizes she’s going to wind up just like her sister and mother, stuck in Dillon forever. Confirming her worst suspicions, Billy Riggins gets onto the stage, takes the mic and proposes to Tyra’s sister Mindy, hoping to raise kids together and spend the rest of their lives in Dillon. Mindy joyfully accepts, and while everyone celebrates, Tyra looks on in horror and goes straight to the Taylor house, where she begs Tami to help her get into college.

The next morning, Tyra storms into the vice principal’s office and asks him to review her application to the University of Texas. She also lets him know she’s running for student council president and that she doesn’t want him to ever tell her she can’t do something again.

Smash shows up for Coach Taylor’s practice and tells him that he’s giving up on football because he’ll never be the same man he once was. Eric reluctantly accepts this. Tami shows up to apologize for flipping out over Julie’s schedule. After making up, Tami gets a little upset again when she notices her husband has a new computer and precision air conditioning in his office while the rest of the school suffers from a lack of funds.
