On Tuesday, Smash is disappointed to hear from his doctor that while he’s making progress, he may never fully return to his former abilities. Tyra is equally disappointed to hear from Landry that in order for her to finish high school with a 3.5 GPA, she’ll need to average a 6.4 in her senior year, which is a little difficult. Tami has her own problems when she opens the floor to the teachers and learns just how poorly the school is doing.
Football practice isn’t going so well, and things get worse when a frozen treats truck drives onto the field. J.D. McCoy’s father bought smoothies for everyone, and while the players love it, Coach Taylor goes into a rage. He yells, rants and screams the word “smoothie” about 20 times, making this the most upset anyone has ever been over free smoothies.
Tyra decides to cut school, disappointed by the impossibility of her getting into a good college. Tami catches her and begs her to stay, but Tyra is too angry at the new principal for filling her pretty little head with lies and fantasies about going off to college.
Coach Taylor’s Wednesday begins trying to reign in his daughters because Tami is dealing with school problems. Julie still wants to change her schedule so she can have 7th and 8th periods free to cut school and work so she can buy her own car. Eric is afraid to sign off on anything without his wife’s permission, but he eventually caves.
Riggins and Smash bond at the Alamo Freeze over their problems. The next day, Lyla gets jealous over some floozy flirting with Tim. Lyla confronts Riggins and confesses that she’s scared to let herself love him because he seems content to be a loser who gets drunk at school and lets rally girls do his homework.
