'Friday Night Lights' Preview: In Trouble Again?
I think Coach suddenly had to redefine the meaning of victory. When he was with the Panthers, they did great things. Now he's with the Lions, he's got to settle for scraps. Sure, he's still propping up his team's confidence so they can win big in the future, but it just feels a little odd. Sure, they almost defeated that big team whose name slips me last week--damn you, failed touchdown. The week before, they were, "at least we caught up a bit." Don't forget the "history of quitting" the reporter asked him about.

I still believe the Lions will get there. It's only a matter of when, or how. Or whether it will involve J.D. McCoy getting his ass whooped, whether on the field or somewhere else. Now I just want to see that happen to him please please!
Still, on Friday Night Lights tonight, the journey to making the East Dillon Lions a formidable team continues. Finally, Coach names a quarterback, and that happens to be Vince -- well, he did great last time. But he could get himself in trouble. He's on the verge of doing just that in the past couple of weeks. No, can't be when he becomes an important part of the team, not when his mother's proud, very proud of him!

And then there's Julie, whose sojourn to Austin ends pretty painfully with Matt's departure. We did see it coming, but any departure is still a painful departure. How now that she's a little more alone? She's good friends with Landry, sure, but he's probably too busy watching out for Jess. That kiss didn't matter? Whatever, Landry.

Oh, and Tim, too. But he's also too busy with dealing with too many things. Lyla's left back to college and he's (sort of) back in Becky's arms... but Becky's back in her dad's arms. So the two dudes will bond, and I wonder what'll get passed on there. Then again, Tim's not exactly going for Becky now, right? Friday Night Lights returns tonight from 8pm on NBC.
