The fifth and final season of Friday Night Lights has a premiere date. According to EW's Michael Ausiello, DirecTV will premiere Friday Night Lights season 5 on Wednesday, October 27.

The premiere date makes the official end of Friday Night Lights a reality and means the series finale will most likely come some time in January or February 2011.

The end of Friday Night Lights also means its time for all the shows stars to thin about a next move, and many of the stars already have new projects. Adrianne Palicki (Tyra Collette) will star in the new FOX drama Lone Star. Scott Porter (Jason Street) has a recurring role on the second season of The Good Wife. Jurnee Smollett (Jess) is starring in the new CBS legal series The Defenders. And Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen) will star in the mid-season ABC medical drama Off the Map.

However, for now our clear eyes and full hearts are focused on how Friday Night Lights will end. Will Coach Taylor win another state championship or will he get another offer to coach college or professional football?

For now, Friday Night Lights is riding high from the Emmy nominations for stars Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton. Find out if they win August 29. And the following week you can start watching Friday Night Lights from the beginning when ABC Family airs reruns starting September 6.
