Laila Rouass

Laila Rouass is a Moroccan/Indian model who was born on June 22, 1975. Rouass was educated in Britain and began her career as a model for Chanel. Her early acting work came in the form of music videos for artists like Aswad and Terence Trent D'Arby. During a trip to India, Rouass was hired to become a VJ for Asia's leading music channel, Channel V. During her 5 year stay in Mumbai, Rouass also worked as host for BBC's Style and TNT's Dinner and a Movie. Her big break came when she was tapped by director Aditya Bhattacharya for his 1999 project, Senso Unico. She was then spotted by Elizabeth director Shekhar Kapur on one of her visits to London and he cast her in his movie, The Four Feathers. After returning from filming The Four Feathers in Morocco, Rouass settled in London where she has hosted BBC's Nework East Late, starred as Dale Jackson on Hollyoaks and as Amber Gates on Footballers' Wives.

Amber Gates, played by Laila Rouass on Footballers' Wives, is a former stalwart of the Bollywood Film Industry. Her fall from grace in the entertainment world was second only to losing her husband to arch-rival, Tanya Turner. Smart and beautiful, Amber is often the victim of her own obsessions and scheming manipulations.
