Jay Rodan was born in South Africa on May 15, 1974 to a Scottish father and an African mother. He grew up in the United Kingdom and Canada where he joined the Vancouver Youth Theater at age 16. After high school, he became a construction worker, circus ride operator and removal man. He also returned briefly to revisit his birthplace of South Africa where he worked as a performing artist. His big break came when he was cast in Kaci Lemmons’ The Caveman’s Valentine starring Samuel L. Jackson. His most recent appearance is as Paolo Bardosa in Footballers’ Wives. Jay is married to photographer Kayt Jones with whom he has two children.

Paolo Bardosa, played on Footballers’ Wives by Jay Rodan, is a man reborn from a traumatic past. He grew up as Marcelo, a disfigured child locked up in a kennel by his own parents. He got a second chance at life when he is rescued by powerful magazine editor Eva de Wolffe. Despite the plastic surgery Eva pays for, Paolo is unaffected by his new celebrity good looks. His haunting past keeps him grounded and unimpressed with mere physical attributes.
