Flight of the Conchords: Preview of Episode 2.2 "New Cup"

Last week, Flight of the Conchords returned for its sophomore season which saw Murray getting fired by Bret (Bret McKenzie) and Jemaine (Jemaine Clement) for spending all of his time managing the Crazy Dogggz.  The New Zealand folk duo, on the other hand, was hired to make an advertisement for women's toothpaste but their success was short-lived as it was discovered that they are illegal immigrants in America.  Moreover, Murray's (Rhys Darby) fortune was reversed after learning that the Crazy Dogggz's big hit is a rip-off of a 1990s Polish song.

Tonight, Flight of the Conchords returns to our small screens once again with an all-new episode. This time, it's called “New Cup,” and it centers on what happens after Bret buys a new tea cup. Apparently, Bret and Jemaine's fortunes unravel.  And with the emergency band funds unavailable, Jemaine goes to desperate measures to increase his income.

Meanwhile, fans can now purchase the new songs of this season's Flight of the Conchords via iTunes.  The songs will be available the following day the episode aired on HBO.  Billboard.com also reports that the band will be releasing a new album on April 14, following the second season conclusion of the show.  The album will include 10 songs from the show, as well as five additional songs that won't be released for download.

"More than one of them leans on a '70s soul sound," Sub Pop head of A&R Tony Kiewel told Billboard.com of the upcoming album.  "I've also heard this choir-y sort of thing, a Meat Loaf-y sort of thing and a crazy top 40-type jam."

Mickey Petralia, who produced the debut, is back on board, while Kiewel reveals that pop singer Sia will provide backup vocals on at least one song.

Flight of the Conchords
airs tonight at 10pm on HBO.
