Flavor Flav Makes Positive Impression on New Sitcom

flavor flavAfter three seasons of Flavor of Love, Flavor Flav is now carving himself a niche in the world of sitcoms, making a transition from reality TV star to comedic actor.  Despite many years of TV exposure, his most recent shift hasn't been easy since he has to struggle with a serious case of CSR, or “can't remember stuff” syndrome.  Nevertheless, he seems to have overcome this new challenge as he gets on the good side of Darryl J. Quarles, executive producer of Flavor Flav's new series, Under One Roof.

According to Quarles, the premise of Under One Roof perfectly fits the Flavor of Love star.  He also reveals that Flavor Flav's performance has taken everyone by surprise.

"He's just a natural," Quarles said of Flavor Flav.  "He's some sort of comedic savant.  He's just been smashing it from the beginning.  This is a fish-out-of-water story, but with Flav it's more like a whale out of water."

It's no secret that Flavor Flav, whose real name is William Drayton, was drawn to Under One Roof because he could relate to his character Calvester Hill, an ex-convict who lives with his wealthy brother and his family when he gets out of prison.  The twist is that his brother can't kick him out because Calvester took the rap for stealing a car when they were younger.  To get into his role, he draws on his experiences growing up.

"I got my street-smart ways from growing up in Freeport and Roosevelt and also from the Bronx," he said.  "What I learned in Freeport, a lot of the stuff I learned when I was young, I apply to my life today. I learned how to survive.  And just in case, if I couldn't get a job, to this day, I still know how to go out on the street and hustle and make a living.  I know how to go to an abandoned house and get the copper pipes out the well and put it in a shopping cart and take it to the place to sell the copper."

Meanwhile, fans can catch Flavor Flav on Flavor of Love every Monday at 9/8c on VH1 and on Under One Roof every Monday at 9/8c on MyNetworkTV.
