Did we see this coming? Reports have been flooding in saying that production on the ABC drama
Flash Forward has been temporarily put to a halt. There have been speculations that declining ratings and the
departure of co-creator Marc Guggenheim are reasons for this decision. However, a rep of the show says this is not the case.
The break that the series is taking isn't about the numbers it's been generating for the past few weeks. It's actually because the writers need some time to work on the upcoming episodes.
Apparently, this hiatus was the plan all along. A spokesperson from the network told
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello that the series kicked off at an early date to have the privilege of a pause.
"They started production early so that they could have the luxury to do this," the rep announced to the publication. "They want to maintain the high quality of the show, and this gives the writers the opportunity to do so."
However,
Flash Forward's six days of being on the shelf is nothing compared to the fate of
V. That's supposed to last a month, while it's hardly a week for the Joseph Fiennes-starrer.
So if you're wondering why there isn't an episode of
Flash Forward today, chalk it up to the writers. They need their creative space to plan out the future of the series. We hope the blackout in their minds only lasts a few seconds though, unless of course they get their own visions which will help boost the show's ratings.
Flash Forward will return with a new episode on December 3, picking up after Keiko's arrival in the country. That was some good Bob Dylan time on "Believe," and we can count on next week's "A561984" delivering an installment worth our wait. It's going to be the mid-season finale, so the series better serve up something good.
