ABC Gives Audiences 'Flash Forward' in March, Sawyer Pleased
After last week's fall finale, the fans are hurrying to have more details divulged on Flash Forward.  Unfortunately for us, the ABC network has opted to delay the show's return.  Yes, it's still coming back next year, but way later than expected.

Several reports have revealed ABC's decision to bring Flash Forward back in March 4.  From there, it's going to have 12 episodes to air until the end of one season.  That's definitely a long winter break and one long season, but will it still be worth our wait?

One reason that the network has for moving the show to March is so that Flash Forward wouldn't overlap with the Winter Olympics and air without repeats.  With no interruptions for it, the story would unfold even better.

Meanwhile, for the sake of creativity, the schedule for second half of the season is pushing for the fictional dates to coincide with reality.  It seems like a stretch for this freshman drama to do, but if there's anything we know from Flash Forward is that its characters take plenty of risks.  Now even the show does too.

But despite the numerous comments disagreeing with ABC's choice to postpone future episodes of the show, author Robert J. Sawyer continues to show his support.  The series is based on his novel, so it's only apt that he commented on the change.  He wrote on his official website that the switch to March would do the series some good.

"I suspect the announcing of the scheduling change could have been handled better, but, in fact, it's a very good thing overall," he explained.  "I like the idea very much of us letting our last half of the season unroll like the juggernaut it is without interruptions."

Sawyer also revealed that he would pen the April 29 installment, in which the flash-forwards would supposedly come true.  He said it would be the 19th episode, though originally it was the 17th.  Does that mean the dates won't match anymore?

"[Because] of some calendar dates we want to reference in-story, and the availability of one of the actors we want to use, the episode I'm writing has been moved from #17 to #19," the author declared.  "I'm still doing the same episode storywise as before -- it's just fitting into the sequence at a different spot."
