Alan Tudyk gained fame as one of the main cast members of
Firefly. For 14 episodes, he portrayed Hoban "Wash" Washburne and served as
Serenity’s pilot. As Zoe’s husband, he often expressed jealousy over his wife’s relationship with Captain Mal. Perceived as a laid-back guy with an occasionally dry sense of humor, he frequently served as a calming influence in heated arguments.

Following
Firefly, Alan Tudyk focused on making films. He was mostly visible in comedies such as
Meet the Market as Danny, and
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story as Steve the Pirate. He also provided the voice of Cholly in the animated film
Ice Age: The Meltdown and its sequel.
Although
Firefly already ended, he was able to work again with his fellow costars in the film
Serenity. In the said movie, he was able to reprise his role as Wash.
On the small screen, he portrayed a lot of guest roles and minor characters in genres of drama, comedy and crime-thriller. His credits included
Arrested Development,
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and the miniseries
Into the West.
Most recently, he was featured in the romantic comedy film
Knocked Up. He portrayed the character Jack, joining
Katherine Heigl as Alison Scott and Seth Rogen as Ben Stone. The plot revolved around a slacker and a career woman who had a one-night stand and an unexpected pregnancy.
This year, he has two more movies coming up. On August 17, his movie
Death at a Funeral is scheduled for release. The comedy-drama revolves around the chaos caused by the unearthing of dark secrets of a recently deceased patriarch of a dysfunctional British family. He stars as Simon, along with Matthew Macfadyen and Keeley Hawes among others.
Next, he will be featured in the western drama flick entitled
3:10 to Yuma. Directed by James Mangold, the film is set to hit the theaters on September 7.
