Seven-time World All-Around Rodeo Champion Ty Monroe Murray was born on October 11, 1969 in Phoenix, Arizona to Joy, a young rider in the National Little Britches Rodeo Association and Butch, a former rodeo hand. Growing up with rodeo deeply rooted in Murray, he decided to be a rodeo champion at the age of two. At that age his father taught him the fundamentals by letting him ride his pet dog's back. The early training did pay off when he won his first Buckle at the age of five. Four years later, Murray rode his first bull, winning the competition and just weeks later, he won his first Junior Rodeo Championship with a broken jaw. Murray became the Arizona All-Around Junior Rodeo Champion for nine years consecutively. Because of his performance, Larry Mahan was so impressed he took Murray on as his protégé. He continued on to win All-Around title in the Arizona National High School Rodeo Association events and by the time he was eighteen, he joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, becoming the youngest PRCA All-Around Rodeo Cowboy ever. Murray was successful in his rodeo endeavors, winning the World All-Around Rodeo Champion title seven times. His other projects include his participation in the new ABC reality television series Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race.
