Gillette Young Gun Ryan Joseph Newman was born on December 8, 1977 in South Bend, Indiana. He is NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver who drives a #12 Alltel, Mobil Oil Dodge Charger for Penske Racing. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in vehicle structure engineering. Nicknamed Rocket Man because of his large number of Bud Poles in such a short time, Newman had a streak of 20 straight races ending with the 2005 MBNA Race Points 400. Aside from racing, he is into charity, founding the Ryan Newman Foundation with his wife Krissie. It is an organization which aims to assure that adequate care is provided for unwanted dogs and cats in shelters and pounds. In 2007 Newman joined the Gillette Young Guns on Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race, a reality series from ABC.

Ryan Newman is one of six Gillette Young Guns in the reality television series Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race. The show features twelve celebrities racing it out with the Gillette Young Guns stock car style. It runs for six episodes and is hosted by Kenny Mayne and Brad Daugherty.
